    PLEASE READ BEFORE BUYING

Eco-pack CD. Just a quick note on the eco-pack: the plastic sleeve of the eco pack is the actual case for the CD. The artwork included is just a four panel piece insert that does not actually hold the CD. As such, be careful to open the plastic casing using the opening flap on the side rather than tearing or cutting the plastic. The flap has an adhesive backing that allows you to reseal the plastic to hold the CD. If you would like, you can get a jewel case and put the CD in that instead but we are not shipping them with jewel cases. If you do put the CD in the jewel case, the insert will need to be trimmed by a few millimeters in order to fit in a jewel case.

We set the shipping to $100 for shipping outside the US and Canada. If you are outside of the US and would like to purchase a physical copy, please click on the "Contact Burden" link on the right hand side of the page and that way you can send us an email with your location and we can figure out shipping price and then add your specific country to the shipping options.

If you purchase a CD and would like stickers (available in 2.5"x1.5" and 5"x3") or a woven patch (available in 4"x2.5"), please use the "Contact Burden" link and let us know. We're happy to include them free with the CD but we will only send them if you contact us because we don't want to send them to people that don't want them and won't use them. No sense in being wasteful.

We will try to ship as quickly as we can but we are very busy with other things so it may take a few days to get the package shipped. In addition, we would like to wait a couple of days to hear if you would like stickers or a patch.

We have a fairly limited quantity of CDs available for sale at the moment but if they go out of stock, email us to let us know that you're interested and we will try our best to get more available as soon as possible.

Thank you for your interest in the album.

about

Cold Farewell was written over a period of several years with de Lorme writing the organ melody roughly around 2011 and Zagan adding the backing chords about a year later. The organ part was revisited around 2018 and the rest of the song was written around it.

The strings and rhythm guitar create friction during the early parts of the song because the guitar follows a Bm-D chord progression while the strings follow a Bsus2-A progression. The strings add a couple of higher notes at the break between the vocals which to de Lorme are reminiscent of the morning sun peering over the tops of the trees.

The song transitions into the organ break about halfway through the song. The organ chords and melody are played in the same octave, creating a thick and dissonant sound. The rest of the band comes in after a few measures and then the guitar plays a melody over the same chord progression. The organ melody is then repeated with the tremolo picked guitar doubling the melody and the drums playing blast beats, creating a very up tempo ending to the song.

Lyrically, Cold Farewell continues the lyrical themes of November Sun from the perspective of a person that was close to the deceased. The song details the emotional coldness that this person feels after losing someone close.

about

Burden Connecticut

Steeped in a world of its own mythology, mysticism, and folklore, Burden is a dark metal band incorporating elements of black metal, doom, and folk with an emphasis on melody. Blast beats and tremolo picked riffs bring to mind the likes of Windir and Mithotyn while heavier songs dredge jackhammer riffs from the deepest depths of doom, all while soaring keyboard and accordion leads spiral above. ... more
